Magnolia Matters - 2019 Fall/Winter

DETECT LUNG CANCER BEFORE SYMPTOMS APPEAR ARE YOU ELIGIBLE? Lung cancer is by far the leading cause of cancer death among both men and women. Each year, more people die of lung cancer than of colon, breast, and prostate cancers combined. As with many cancers, if diagnosed early, lung cancer can be cured. Magnolia Regional Health Center offers a lung screening CT by a board-certified radiologist who performs the screening after a shared decision-making visit between the patient and their primary care provider. This program informs patients and referring providers of CT results, assists with referrals to specialists, tracks patients for follow-up compliance, and sends reminders to patients for annual follow-up screenings. MRHC even offers tobacco cessation counseling.
