Magnolia Matters - 2019 Spring/Summer
For more information regarding the services the Air Evac team provides, please visit Lifeteam.net For specific membership information, please call 662.603.7577 or email johnny.johnson@ airmedcarenetwork.com As far as piloting the aircraft goes, pilots must have a current commercial rotorcraft pilot license and instrument rating. They must also have at least 2,000 flight hours, with at least 1,500 of those being in rotorcraft, and 100 hours of unaided night flight. Many of the flight crews and pilots have extensive military backgrounds and training, with several of them having served tours of duty in foreign countries protecting our freedoms. Affecting the Quality of Care In comparison with an ambulance, Air Evac may be able to offer a shorter transport time for the patient. In most instances, Air Evac is able to provide a higher level of care during a transport, based on ongoing training and expertise. Remember the situation of the group of people being involved in the car wreck? In this example, the patient with severe injuries would be rushed to a trauma center in a more timely manner in order to receive the appropriate care for the injuries sustained. With both a nurse and a paramedic onboard during each transport, the Air Evac team is able to utilize the individual skill sets of both practitioners. In addition to supplying transportation, Air Evac also assists MRHC with personnel training, including instruction in Prehospital Trauma Life Support and Trauma Nurse Core Course training for the Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Department, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, and Medical Intensive Care Unit employees. www.MRHC.org MAGNOLIA MATTERS 11
