Magnolia Matters - 2019 Spring/Summer
PRIMARY CARE, PLEASE According to Primary Care Progress, adults with a primary care provider have 19 percent lower odds of premature death than those who only see specialists. And this isn’t the only benefit! Truth is, when it comes to our health, individuals who see a primary care provider regularly experience overall better health. When seeing a primary care provider, one who knows you and your medical history, you are able to receive more comprehensive treatments and management. In fact, through routine checkups, potentially serious health problems can be recognized before the issues cause more serious difficulties for your overall well-being. It is important to find a primary care provider that you know and trust, ultimately resulting in having open discussions regarding what is truly going on in your life and with your health. In addition to receiving more customized and in- depth care, you enjoy a cost benefit to seeing a primary care provider routinely as well. Those who make routine visits to their provider’s office tend to suffer from lesser complications than those who may see a provider only when a problem arises. By catching the issues earlier, and on the front end, your provider can then treat, manage, and refer to a specialist when needed. Primary care providers typically include individuals focused in the areas of family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, and OB-GYN. If you and your family are not seeing a provider on a routine basis, be sure to check out our team of primary care providers.
